The classic 2002 film, My Big fat Greek Wedding, which spawned a 2016 sequel, is now getting a third sequel! In June of 2022, creator and star Nia Vardalos took to Instagram to share the exciting news that filming had already commenced in Greece. ‘Thank you so much for the lovely messages of just waiting,” she said, referring to the six-year gap between the second and third films, plus the Covid-19-related filming delays. The actress also revealed she was on location in Plaka, the center of Athens. Nia lastly and excitedly shared that she’s the film’s director and taught followers how to say the word in Greek.
Since the big announcement, Nia has not been shy about sharing BTS footage from the production. In July, for instance, she shared a photo of both original cast members and new ones all with big smiles on their faces, including Louis Mandylor, Maria Vacratsis, Elena Kampouris, Elias Kacavas, and John Corbett.
